German-speaking Social Media Manager (Freelance)
About us
We're Camping, a video creative agency that helps B2B Saas business with a strong POV grow, with campaigns that stand out, make people care and perform.
We work for an industry that mostly takes itself too seriously, and we have fun proving it doesn't have to.
We're taking over the social media of a German B2B SaaS client, and we're looking for a native German freelancer to create the day-to-day content that makes it work. You'll work alongside our in-house Social & Content Strategist, who sets the direction for the account.
The role
We're looking for a freelance Social Media Manager who is a native German speaker to handle the day-to-day social content for one of our German B2B SaaS clients. Your German has to be native, because you'll be writing copy that has to sound like it was never translated.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role. The single most important thing you'll bring is native German writing, an eye for design, and the discipline to ship good content every single week.
You're the right person if you can hold a brand voice, write German that people actually want to read, and design a post that looks good enough to stop the scroll. You don't need a brief that spells out every detail; you take a direction and turn it into finished content.
The day-to-day is Instagram and LinkedIn. On Instagram you'll design and write the posts, carousels and stories. On LinkedIn you'll write posts in German that sound like a person, not a press release. Video experience is welcome but not required; if a piece needs video, our team can help with it.
You'll work closely with our in-house Social & Content Strategist and with Ainhoa (Marketing & Growth), collaborating asynchronously in Notion and Asana.
This is an ongoing freelance contract with a part-time workload. You can be based anywhere, as long as you work within CET and your German is native.
Core responsibilities
Create the day-to-day content (the core of the role)
Design and write Instagram content: posts, carousels and stories. On-brand, well laid out, ready to publish.
Write LinkedIn posts in native German: sharp hooks, a clear point of view, B2B without the corporate fog.
Adapt what we make into German
Take concepts and copy our team develops in English and turn them into German that reads as if it was written in German, not translated.
Adjust references, humour, and tone so they land with a German B2B audience.
Tell us when an idea simply won't work in the German market, and propose what will instead.
Design and package content
Create nicely designed carousels and well-packaged posts. You don't need to be a product designer, but you need an eye for layout and the confidence to build visual content for social on your own (Canva, Figma or similar).
Pitch in on other content as it comes up
Write German copy for landing pages, ads, newsletters and other campaign material when we need it.
We don't want to box this in. If it's content and it needs great German writing, it can land on your plate.
Repurpose, package, and polish
Turn raw notes, docs, and assets into publishable content, and adapt a core idea into multiple formats (short post, carousel, story series).
Tighten hooks, structure, clarity, and CTA, and keep the tone consistent with the client's brand voice.
Maintain content ops
Work inside the content calendar, deliver drafts on time, incorporate feedback quickly, and keep versioning clean.
What we're looking for
Required Skills & Experience
Native German. This one is not negotiable. You'll be writing copy that has to sound like it was written by a German, for Germans.
Proven experience creating and designing Instagram content. Portfolio required; we want to see posts and carousels you actually made.
Proven experience writing LinkedIn posts, ideally for B2B brands. If you've built an audience on your own profile, even better.
Social post design skills. You can put together clean, well-designed carousels and packaged content (Canva, Figma, or similar).
A sharp sense of tone and voice. You can hold a brand voice and make B2B content genuinely worth reading.
Strong editorial judgment: hooks, pacing, scannability, clear point of view.
Good working English. Our team works in English, so briefs, feedback and calls happen in English. You write in German; we talk in English.
Reliable async communication and deadline discipline. You're freelancing for us, so we need to be able to count on your dates.
The Perfect Fit Will Also Have
Hands-on experience in tech or B2B SaaS. You know how that audience thinks, buys and scrolls.
Video content experience. Not required, but welcome. Some pieces may involve short-form video.
A presence of your own: a portfolio, a personal site, or a LinkedIn profile that shows us how you think.
Familiarity with HubSpot, Notion, Asana, or similar ops stacks.
Note how we haven't mentioned AI up until this point. For us writing is all about the thinking that needs to happen before actually writing. We welcome (and expect) AI use proficiency (specially when it comes to make processes easier and faster), but we must prevent AI slop at all costs, please.
Your Mindset
You want to help build a fun brand that cares about making marketing a bit more human and fun.
You enjoy the world of business and marketing, but you also have a life.
You care about quality, even when it needs to be balanced with quantity.
You think strategically about content. Every post, script, or page connects to a bigger narrative and a real goal, not just output for output's sake.
You're a storyteller. You know how to build tension, land a point, and make even dry B2B topics genuinely engaging.
You're versatile and low-ego about format. An Instagram carousel today, a LinkedIn post tomorrow, a story series the day after; you adapt fast.
You have a strong ear for voice. You can slip into a brand or personal voice and make it sound effortless.
You're self-directed and reliable. You manage your own schedule, hit deadlines, and iterate quickly on feedback.
You want this collaboration to last. We're looking for a long-term freelance partner, not a one-off gig.
Working model
Fully remote, ongoing freelance contract. Part-time workload, with the exact scope agreed up front.
Flexible working hours; we trust you to manage your schedule around deadlines and team commitments.
We collaborate in Notion (docs + calendar) and Asana (execution), with Slack/email as needed.
Candidates we think could be a good fit will be invited to a paid test assignment, so we can both see what working together actually looks like.
We'd start with a first paid month as a trial run, and treat it as a two-way trial.
Location
This is a fully remote freelance role. You can be based anywhere, as long as your working hours overlap with CET and you can invoice us as a freelancer from your country of residence. German-based freelancers are the natural fit here, but we're open to anyone whose German is genuinely native.
Diversity & Inclusion
At Camping we believe that diverse teams drive creativity, innovation, and success. We are committed to building an inclusive culture where all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, age, religion, or background, feel valued, heard, and empowered to thrive. We celebrate diverse perspectives and actively work to ensure equal opportunity for all applicants and team members.
What We Offer
An immediate start, as soon as we've agreed the scope.
Ongoing freelance contract, part-time. 2,500 - 3,500 EUR per month, depending on seniority and actual workload.
One focused account instead of juggling ten clients at once.
The opportunity to work with innovative B2B tech companies on content that stands out.
Direct collaboration with our in-house content team, not an anonymous brief landing in your inbox.
A team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously.
