Freelance Brand Copywriter & Strategist

We're looking for a freelance writer who thinks like a strategist - someone who can lead positioning work, then write the manifesto, the website, the campaign concept and the sales deck that make it real. For multi-month engagements with category-defining B2B SaaS companies.

Freelance · Fully Remote

About us

We're Camping - a video and brand partner for category-defining B2B SaaS companies. We help ambitious scale-ups sharpen what they stand for, write it in a way nobody else can copy, and turn it into films, campaigns and content that move the business.

We're 25 people. We're not a branding agency and we don't want to be one. What we want to be is the partner that helps companies find the deeper story under what they do - and then executes that story across brand, campaigns, and content. Writing is the spine of all of it.

We already work with a writer who fits this profile beautifully. We need a second one to help us take on more of this work.

About the role

This isn't a role with a clean market title. Pure copywriters won't fit. Pure brand strategists won't fit. We need the hybrid: someone who leads the thinking and writes the words.

You'll work with us on multi-month engagements - brand evolutions, positioning sprints, campaign concepts, and content programs - for a roster of B2B SaaS scale-ups. Some projects you'll lead end-to-end. Others you'll plug into alongside our strategy lead, designers and producers.

You'd be writing manifestos, value propositions, positioning statements, website copy, sales decks, naming, tone of voice guidelines, campaign concepts, long-form thought leadership, and yes, occasionally a script. Across all of it, the work isn't "execute this brief" - it's "ask the right questions, frame the strategic answer, then write the thing that lands it."

What you'll work on

We organise the work in three overlapping areas. You don't need to be 10/10 on all three, but you should be strong in at least two.

Brand messaging. Positioning statements, value props, taglines, website copy, sales decks, naming, tone of voice guidelines, messaging architecture. The work of figuring out who a company is, then making them sound like that consistently everywhere.

Content. Long-form thought leadership, content hubs, podcasts, customer stories, talks, reports. Editorial work that earns attention rather than buys it.

Campaigns. Creative campaign concepts from the brief through to final headline copy, in collaboration with our creatives and producers. Sometimes B2B-funny, sometimes serious, always with a point of view.

The engagement

Format: Monthly retainer, freelance contract. Scope: 8-12 days/month to start, depending on project mix. Concrete retainer set once we've established fit. Duration: Initial 3-month engagement, intent to extend through the rest of 2026 if the work clicks. Working hours: Async-friendly, but expect 1-2 live working sessions per week in CET hours. Location: Remote anywhere CET-compatible. We're based in Barcelona - bonus if you can occasionally join workshops in person.

How we work

Notion for project hubs, briefs and deliverables. Slack for daily comms. We expect senior collaborators to push back, not just execute. If a brief is wrong, we want to hear it day one. We plan well so we don't do heroics. Honest estimates, clean handoffs, no fire drills.

What we offer

Monthly retainer at a senior freelance rate. We calibrate to your day rate, we don't lowball. Long, meaty engagements with clients who actually want strategic work - not banner copy. A small senior team. Direct collaboration with strategy and creative leads, no layers in between. Honest scoping. We don't oversell what we can't deliver, and we don't sell you into burnout. A growing portfolio of brand-led work in the B2B scale-up space.

About you

5+ years writing for brands at a strategic level. You've led the thinking on positioning, brand voice, or campaign concepts - not just executed someone else's framework.

Portfolio with at least 2-3 projects where you owned the strategic and verbal layer of a brand. Case studies, brand decks, websites, manifestos - the actual artefacts, not just logos.

Comfortable running a discovery interview with a founder or CMO and walking out with a positioning angle.

A point of view on positioning. You've read Dunford or Raskin or Neumeier or someone, you have favourites, and you disagree with bits of all of them.

English at native or C2 level. The kind of English a B2B SaaS company can ship without rewrites.

Self-managed and senior. You can run a project end-to-end with a designer and a PM, push back on a wrong brief, and own a deadline without being chased.

Freelance by choice. You're set up to invoice EU clients and you want a monthly retainer relationship, not project-by-project hustle.
